Martingale Collars

These are like a limited choke train with a will tighten on the dog’s neck but not to a degree that would choke the dog. They will however do the trick of making it so that the dog can’t get his head out of the collar. These are good if you dog is very excitable and tends to jump around and try to back his head out.

Choke Chain

This is a call of that is a plain chain with two rings at the end one Ring goes to the other the leash attaches and when you yank on the leash the chain is tightened against the dog’s neck. These are rarely used anymore for training and actually can be quite dangerous. There is no mechanism on a typical choke train to stop it and it can be tightened to the point of choking your dog. Never leave your dog unattended with a choke train.

Limited Choke Collar

This is the nylon version of a choke chain but with the safety mechanism that keeps it from getting too tight on the dog’s neck you can jerk the chain and I’ll tighten up to distract her dog but can’t be pulled too tight to the point of choking.

Head Collar

This collar looks like a muzzle but it’s not intended to keep your dog from biting - it fits over his face with the lead down by his muzzle and is intended for leading the dog around by his head.

Pronged Collars

Pronged crawlers have prongs that stick into your dog’s neck. Pulling on them can distract you dog from the unwanted behavior. Many people think that these are cruel and they might look quite nasty but they don’t really hurt your dog that much and can give you a good edge over an unruly, strong dog. You would want to use one of these forever but might be helpful into you can get your dog’s behavior under control and move to different collar.

Electronic Collars

Electronic caller is give your dog a little zap when he exhibits undesirable behavior. They have a little remote and when you see your dog doing something isn’t supposed to you just give them a little jolt which makes him think twice about doing that again. Most people use a strong way however using it to punish the dog after he performs the behavior when in fact you should use it to distract the dog when you see that he is about to perform the behavior.

No Bark Collars

These callers know when you dog is barking at the vibration his vocal cords sent out any can emit a shock, a loud voice, or a puff of citrus scented spray which is very distasteful to the dog. The goal is to get him to associate one of these unpleasant actions with the barking and therefore be discouraged from barking.
